Browser en working-environment

• Question 1: What browser should I use for IDEP?

  Answer: Any common and fairly recent browser can be used for IDEP. Browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari all support IDEP.

• Question 2: What size screen should I have to work with IDEP

  Answer: A standard office screen (1000x800) should be sufficient. Larger screens are recommended.

• Question 3: Can I use IDEP on a tablet, phablet or smart-phone?

  Answer: Yes, if you really want. On a tablet it is still workable but on a smart-phone it becomes cumbersome. If really necessary you can even try out IDEP on a smart-TV.

• Question 4: How can I download and install IDEP?

  Answer: In the Netherlands, IDEP is an online web-application. There is nothing to download or install. IDEP runs in your browser (by the way, if you are reading this, IDEP is already running in your browser).

• Question 5: Can I use IDEP on Apple/Mac or Linux?

  Answer: Yes. IDEP runs in the browser. Any common en fairly recent browser on these systems can cope with IDEP.

• Question 6: What are the differences between CBS-IRIS and IDEP?

  Answer: This is described in the subject from IRIS to IDEP.

• Question 7: Can I report for the previous year?

  Answer: Yes, declarations for the previous year can still be reported in this version.

• Question 8: Can I report non-EU trade (external trade) with IDEP?

  Answer: Yes, you should, however, an agreement with both Customs and CBS. In the main menu Declarant | Your company information you can tick the Extrastat checkbox.

• Question 9: Can I import data in IDEP instead of entering it manually?

  Answer: Yes. In the main menu, choose the option Actions | Import. You must have an ASCII, Excel, MS Access or dBase file that contains the data you want to import. Ask the vendor of the software you use to generate this file for the specifications of the layout of the file. Based on this layout you should define an import definition that maps the fields in the file on the fields used in IDEP. You can also use a pre-defined import definition (e.g. SRL).

• Question 10: Can I send my data via upload?

  Answer: No, this was required in CBS-IRIS but is not applicable to IDEP.

• Question 11: Why can't I define my own exchange rates

  IDEP already supplies the exchange rates (ga naar) of the most commonly used currencies (for ex. the currencies of non-EURO EU-countries, USD, etc.). These exchange rates are kept up-to-date and have a monthly validity that is used in the declarations of the relevant month.
